Republicans party has become the “Almond Joy Party”. Sometime they act like a nut and sometime they don’t.
Editorial Comments by Clarence Piner Jr
Wake up Americans Billionaires are going to spend as much money as it takes to get rid of unions. Please don’t’ allow them to get away with this non sense. They have been attacking unions in the following states claiming that all they are doing is giving people the right to work. No they are not what they are really after is getting cheaper labor. All this new law in Michigan does is gives workers the “right to work for less pay and benefits”. All you have to do is look at what governors are doing all over the county states like, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, Florida, and Pennsylvania  most of these states are swing states. If you don’t understand what that means let me explain swings states are those states with large numbers of Electoral College votes that how to really win the office of the President.

For the most part union labor support progressives with their money, their votes and their time help getting out other voters who vote for progressives. If Republicans can bust up that support they believe by doing this they can weaken progressive’s supporters. If you look at weaken the Progressive base by busting up union’s membership not only does that happen but they are attacking the fabric of the middle class and their social systems. Remember unions help to build the middle class that why Republicans are trying so hard with their billionaire friends to destroy the middle class. Unions have been at the forefront of all social changes to our great social systems common called the “safety net”.

Some of you are saying why would they do that? The middle class is where they get their customers and workers from. Clearly, they don’t give a dam about the middle class only about their bottom lines. They have been planning this for quite some time if they didn’t the billionaires would not be supporting this very dumb idea. It seem to me they are cutting off their nose to spite their faces. Their strategy is wrong headed and in the end the people will get it after they wake up and destroy this good old boy system.

Gerrymandering is the other attack use by Republicans to steal elections. Progressive went to sleep in the 2010 election and forgot the underline effect that will have on elections for the next decade and beyond. Republicans have setup elections maps where they win and progressive lose no matter how many votes they get. By staying home on what some call non Presidential elections progressives have got to grow up and get to the poles and vote and if we don’t Progressive are going to eat dirt from this point forward. I recall saying in 2010 on election night (America) we are in trouble. Republicans governors running on job creation and what did they really do turn to social issues, women rights, minority rights etc. I haven’t seen any jobs, not one, they lied to get elected.

If Progressives don’t get organize and on their toes all social systems will be gone because big money is out to take control of everything. We have the power but most Americans have forgotten that; it’s call the almighty dollar. Every time you make a purchase of a particular item you vote for that item success in the market place. Keep in mind these billionaires have been planning for quite some time by spreading their money around because they were planning for the when they would have to face the people. If you boycott one of their products in a segment they have several others in the same market segment to take its place. Progressive have been out maneuvered at every turn, I think they have trying to be Mr nice guy while Republicans haven’t worried about being nice only winning at all cost. As I look out on the landscape I don’t see any Progressives who have the stomach for the fight to win this battle.

Republicans have been lying to their constituents like cross ties on railroad tracks. I watched the 2012 election on election night as the election returns were coming in. I said Americans are screwing up as they elected Republicans to office in all of the states who were electing governors and state legislators. Progressives were to busy to go to the polls in 2010 and its going to take us maybe fifty years to correct the system if ever.

The elections decks have been changed so Republicans can run the deck in every election race they choose to enter. Republicans will do everything they can to control the political process thereby remaining in power for as long as they care to. Republicans will do anything and everything legal or not to have their way just as long as they remain in power. Progressives have a real problem and don’t even know it, Republicans are like “snakes in the grass” just laying and waiting for unsuspecting Progressives to cross their path. Here is something else Republicans are working on to change electoral college election system from the way they were done in the 2012. In the future Republicans are planning to change the system to reflect the way states are electing governors, state legislators and Federal elections.

Gerrymandering of districts in states will have a huge impact on all elections they have stacked people of color in the same area and white voters together so they can minimize the effect of voters in central city and other districts where people of color live. Basically they are lumping like groups together so they can make sure they win at all costs. I am told this allow them to win with fewer voters just so you understand what this means by implementing all of these new changes if these changes had been in effect in the last election President Obama would not have won the last election. These guys are serially about stealing future elections at all levels. In some cases they are able to get two votes for the price of one. Republicans realized long ago that they couldn’t win elections on their policies only on their lies or omissions.

As long as we are frozen in front of our TVs and movies Theaters watching all of the nonsense movies and programs big business are sponsoring to keep our minds off of the real problems. They know by doing this with all of the things that’s going on in your daily lives will keep you occupied thereby, allowing Republicans to do whatever they want to screw up everything else. It’s my hope that someday soon the Americans people will wake up and take back their political process and send Republicans politicians to the wood shed.

Going over the Fiscal Cliff some call it a curb: It not a cliff as some in the media has been stating. In my opinion nothing will be done until after the New Year and the new congress is sworn in. The Speaker of the house Boehner will get reelected as speaker. If by some chance he doesn’t get reelected then all hell will break lose. Republicans will be fighting over who they will elect as speaker. In one corner you have the old guard and in the other you have the young Turks headed by Tea Party’s Rep Paul Ryan who knows who will be the winner if it come to this.

Speaker Boehner relieved three Tea Party Chairman from their Chairmanship and they are “Mad as hell”. I think he showed them who the boss is and that their reward for not doing what he wanted. This is how things works in our congress always has and always will.

The last time Republicans raised taxes was 150 years ago to pay for the Civil war. During most of our history when Republicans get us into wars they don’t know how or soon forget they must be paid for. Just in case you don’t know what I am talking about the Iraq war, Afghanistan war, Medicare perception drug bill and the George W Bush 2000 tax cut for the rich that were extended by President Obama. None of this was paid for. Our President seem to be afraid to take on Republicans they should be glad I am not the President because if I were I would fight those guys to the death. I realized that may not be the best medicine for the county. I would meet them in the middle and we would fight from there over issues.

Getting back to going over the curb; if you recall this curb is something congress came up with because they couldn’t make a decision on our budget and paying the country debt or as some has stated our credit card. The debt is money congress has spent as stated in the paragraph above.

WHAT IS BOEHNER’S ‘PLAN B’ STRATEGY & WHY DID THE WHITE HOUSE REJECT IT?
Posted on December 18, 2012 at 12:36pm by Becket Adams Becket Adams

The White House on Tuesday rejected House Speaker John Boehner’s backup tax bill, dubbed “Plan B,” saying it “fails to meet President Barack Obama’s call for a balanced approach and does not put enough of a tax burden on the wealthiest Americans,” Reuters reports.

“The president is hopeful that both sides can work out remaining differences and reach a solution so we don’t miss the opportunity in front of us today,” said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.
Boehner had called for a separate bill to address only taxes. He wants lawmakers to extend tax cuts for people making up to $1 million. He also called for entitlement cuts and a tax reform debate next year.
“I continue to have hope that we can reach a broader agreement with the White House” that would cancel a wave of tax increases and spending cuts now poised to begin in early January, Boehner told reporters.
But he said when it comes to offering a package that balances tax increases with spending cuts, “The president is not there yet.”

Here’s a video of Reps. Boehner and Eric Cantor (R-Va.) introducing “Plan B”: For its part, the White House (via Press Secretary Jay Carney) said “Plan B” doesn’t “ask enough of the very wealthiest in taxes and instead shifts the burden to the middle class and seniors.” Boehner spokesman Brendan Buck responded: “After spending months saying we must ask for more from millionaires and billionaires, how can they reject a plan that does exactly that?” Buck continued, accusing President Obama of “moving the goal posts” and “threatening every American family with higher taxes.”

And before the White House had even rejected Boehner’s “Plan B,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) was already assuring the press that it would never pass the senate. “Speaker Boehner’s ‘plan B’ is the farthest thing from a balanced approach,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s office said in a statement. “It will not protect middle class families because it cannot pass both Houses of Congress.”

“Now is the time to show leadership, not kick the can down the road,” Reid said. “Speaker Boehner should focus his energy on forging a large-scale deficit reduction agreement. It would be a shame if Republicans abandoned productive negotiations due to pressure from the tea party, as they have time and again.”
In addition to allowing a tax increase for million-dollar earners, the Boehner plan would have prevented an expansion of the alternative minimum tax that would otherwise hit 28 million middle- and upper-class Americans with an average $3,700 increase on their 2012 tax returns.
So, yes, the Obama White House has rejected a plan that would’ve prevented an increase in taxes on the middle-class.

The plan would have also extended the current maximum 35 percent tax rate on inheritance, exempting the first $5 million. That tax rate is slated to rise to 55 percent on Jan. 1, with only a $1 million exemption. Boehner aides said the call for a separate tax bill does not mean the Republican is cutting off negotiations with Obama on averting the full slate of tax hikes and spending cuts due to take effect next year. It’s simply a “just in case” backup plan.

“In terms of logistics, the House is tentatively planning to take up the ‘Plan B’ proposal later this week, as early as Thursday. They would do it by amending a bill previously passed by the Senate that tracked more with Obama’s original offer,” Fox News reports. “Then, the House would send the bill back to the Senate — where it would likely sit as a potential last resort in case Obama and Boehner cannot strike a deal,” the report adds.

ONLINE GUN RETAILER ‘CHEAPER THAN DIRT’ SUSPENDS FIREARM SALES
Posted on December 18, 2012 at 3:25pm by Erica Ritz Erica Ritz

Online gun retailer Cheaper Than Dirt announced Tuesday that it will be suspending certain firearm sales “effective immediately” pending an internal policy review.  A review of exactly what remains unclear, but the announcement has prompted swift reaction on the site’s Facebook page.

Their Facebook message reads:
“Cheaper Than Dirt! is suspending online sales of firearms effective immediately. We are reviewing our policy internally, and will continue to be the leader in the outdoor industry with our full line of gear and accessories.”

In less than 45 minutes, the message already had thousands of comments:
There are now over 8,000 comments in the two hours since the message was first put up.  And because the post comes amid the fierce gun control battle after the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary last Friday– where 20 students and 6 adults were fatally shot– many are accusing the retailer of “selling out” to the gun control crowd:

It should be noted, though, that the company’s language does not specifically reference Sandy Hook or the current gun control controversy. Dick’s Sporting Goods, however, has made it clear that it is taking action specifically because of the shooting.  The retail giant announced Tuesday that it would be suspending the sale of modern rifles nationwide in light of the tragedy, declining to say exactly how long the suspension would last, or which guns would be pulled.

TheBlaze reached out to Cheaper Than Dirt for comment, but did not receive one.
Full disclosure: Cheaper Than Dirt does advertise with TheBlaze.

MAN ATTEMPTS TO OPEN FIRE ON CROWD AT MOVIE THEATER, ARMED OFF-DUTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY DROPS HIM WITH ONE BULLET
Posted on December 17, 2012 at 10:28pm by Jason Howerton Jason Howerton

With one shot, an off-duty sheriff’s deputy took down a gunman who attempted to opened fire at a crowded movie theater lobby during a late night showing of “The Hobbit” in San Antonio, WOAI reports.
Police say a gunman, identified as Jesus Manuel Garcia, chased patrons from the nearby China Garden Restaurant into the lobby of the Santikos Mayan 14 movie theater at around 9 p.m. on Sunday. Garcia, an employee of the restaurant, reportedly walked in the establishment looking for a woman.

When the woman, also reportedly a restaurant employee, wasn’t there, Garcia pulled out a gun and attempted to open fire in the restaurant but his weapon jammed. “It started at the restaurant and then went into the parking lot and then into the movie theater,” Deputy Lou Antu told 1200 WOAI news.
The commotion sent horrified restaurant patrons into the movie theater lobby, but the gunman followed. He again attempted to open fire, and this time his gun didn’t jam. Garcia reportedly shot one man in the chest before Antu says an off-duty sheriff’s deputy working security the theater shot him once, dropping him to the floor.

Bexar County sheriff’s Sgt. Lisa Castellano reportedly chased the gunman toward the back of the theater. The 13-year department veteran cornered him after he ran into a men’s restroom and shot him before taking his gun. “The officer involved, she took the appropriate action to try to keep everyone safe in the movie theater,” Antu added. Due to the off-duty deputy’s bravery, the gunman was not able to make it into the theater where he could have potentially taken many lives. The gunman and the man he shot remain hospitalized, according to WOAI.

Police say a recent breakup set off the man’s shooting spree on Sunday, MySanAntonio.com reports.
Jesus Manuel Garcia, 19, an employee at a China Garden restaurant next to the Santikos Mayan Palace 14 theater, apparently became upset Sunday night after his girlfriend broke up with him. He lashed out by sending her a message saying he planned to go to the restaurant and “shoot somebody,” said Bexar County sheriff’s Sgt. Raymond Pollard.

Pollard said the woman called to warn restaurant employees, but by the time she saw his message, Garcia was already outside the China Garden firing a Glock 23 at the front door about 9:25 p.m. If Garcia survives his attempt at mass murder, officials say he will likely face a charge of attempted capital murder as he allegedly shot at the San Antonia police car on Southwest Military Drive as he ran from the restaurant and into the theater.

SHOULD AMERICANS LEARN FROM ISRAELI GUN LAWS?
Posted on December 18, 2012 at 8:38am by Tiffany Gabbay Tiffany Gabbay
In the wake of the brutal shooting spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, that left 28 — including 20 innocent children dead — Americans are searching high and low to make sense of what is indeed, a senseless tragedy. Of course pundits and lawmakers alike have, just as they do following most mass-shootings, politicized the event in an effort to call for stricter gun laws. In fact, California Democrat Dianne Feinstein announced Sunday her intention to introduce an assault weapons ban bill on the first day of the new Congress in 2013.

“I’m going to introduce in the Senate, and the same bill will be introduced in the House — a bill to ban assault weapons,” Feinstein told her fellow panelists on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” The veteran lawmaker and liberal stalwart had previously called on the ban to be renewed following this year’s other mass shooting at an Aurora, Colorado movie theater. Needless to say, last week’s brutality has only reinforced her stance.

While debates on gun restrictions and laws are sure to abound, one writer for the Jewish Press made an interesting point: Rather than favor an outright ban on guns and greater restrictions of Americans’ Second Amendment rights, author Shalom Bear suggested that the U.S. simply look to Israel and its gun laws as a model to emulate.

Bear noted that Jewish people have an obligation to fight calls for all out gun-bans as Israelis who live under constant existential threat rely on guns for their very survival each and every day. He also noted that “giving up the means and the right to defend ourselves is the worst mistake we could make.”
“Imagine if Germany or Poland’s Jews had been armed,” he then asked readers to contemplate.
So what, then, is the answer?

Many who visit Israel are likely struck by the number of guns they see on the streets, carried out in the open by everyday people. For Israelis, carrying guns is indeed a matter of survival, but as the Jewish Press author notes, these guns are actually more difficult to acquire in Israel than in the U.S. due to the country’s strict vetting process.

That process includes screening by government, law enforcement, trained professionals at shooting ranges and even medical professionals through psychiatric evaluations — all of whom must sign off on the person seeking a gun permit. What’s more, even those who do successfully manage to obtain a license are only permitted to own one gun.

“Appearances aside, in Israel there are fewer personal weapons per capita, and fewer homicides involving guns, than in the U.K., which has very strong and restrictive gun laws,” the author writes before adding that he believes one of the key differences between America and Israel’s views on guns is the attitude.
“Even though Israelis watch the same movies and play the same video games that glorify gun violence as Americans do, Israelis, unlike Americans, are taught from a young age a mature, respectful and structured interaction with their weapons,” Bear claims. “In America, it’s considered a right to carry a gun, but in Israel, it’s considered both right and a privilege.”

The author continues:
Keeping guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens is wrong and unconstitutional. But America must rethink its gun laws and make them consistent for the entire country. They must include a serious, complex vetting process, at least as demanding as the process one must endure to receive a driver’s license. In fact, I recommend letting each state’s DMV develop a process of educating and testing potential gun owners. After all, in both cases, when providing a license to drive a car and a license to carry a gun (and to register the car and gun), the state is empowering its citizen to operate a potentially lethal weapon.

Like applicant drivers, potential gun owners must undergo extensive, well structured training on the proper handling, storage and use of their weapon, before being allowed to even buy one, and repeat the process at every license renewal. And they must have a qualified doctor sign off on them too. [...]
Also, the states must get rid of the concealed carry requirement (for those that have it). It’s an idiotic idea that is actually a result of American society’s veneration of weapons, and it removes any visual deterrence it otherwise affords.

Once obvious targets for an attacks, such as schools (think JCCs, and synagogues, too) appoint visibly armed, well-trained guards, we will undoubtedly be seeing a reduction in the number of massacres perpetrated in American schools and other public places.

At the end of the day there is something to be said for Israel’s approach to emphasizing the immense personal responsibility entailed in possessing and potentially using a firearm. Perhaps looking to a nation so conversant in matters of self-defense is one approach worth considering as Americans move forward and with hope past senseless violence like the kind carried out at Sandy Hook Elementary and into what is sure to be a more robust debate on the future of gun control.

PRIVATE EQUITY FIRM SELLS ITS STAKE IN GUN MANUFACTURER BECAUSE OF SHOOTING: ‘WATERSHED EVENT’
Posted on December 18, 2012 at 9:53am by Jonathon M. Seidl Jonathon M. Seidl

NEW YORK (The Blaze/AP) — The private equity firm Cerberus will sell its stake in a firearms company that produced one of the weapons believed to have been used in the shootings at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., calling it a “watershed event” in the national debate on gun control. While saying that it’s not its role to take positions or attempt to shape or influence the gun control debate, Cerberus said it is taking what action it can by selling its stake in the Freedom Group, which makes the Bushmaster rifle.

On Friday, 20 children were killed, 26 people in all, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in one of the worst mass shootings in U.S history. The gunman, Adam Lanza, is believed to have used a .223-caliber Bushmaster AR-15 rifle in the attack. The AR-15 is a civilian version of the military’s M-16. Versions of the AR-15 were outlawed in the U.S. under the 1994 assault weapons ban. That law expired in 2004, and Congress failed to renew it under immense pressure from the gun lobby.

Cerberus, however, is distancing itself.
“We are investors, not statesmen or policy makers,” the company said in a statement. “Our role is to make investments on behalf of our clients who are comprised of the pension plans of firemen, teachers, policemen and other municipal workers and unions, endowments, and other institutions and individuals.  It is not our role to take positions, or attempt to shape or influence the gun control policy debate.  That is the job of our federal and state legislators.” And it appeared some investors were ridding themselves of shares in firearms makers this week. Shares of Sturm, Ruger & Co. plunged nearly 7 percent in early trading Tuesdsay. Shares of Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. fell more than 9 percent.

But that’s in stark contrast to firearms sales, which have seen a spike since the shooting. Foxnews.com offers some examples: The Colorado Bureau of Investigation says it set a new record for single-day background check submittals this past weekend. In San Diego, Northwest Armory gun store owner Karl Durkheimer said Saturday “was the biggest day we’ve seen in 20 years. Sunday will probably eclipse that.” In southwest Ohio, from dawn to dusk a Cincinnati gun show had a line of 400 waiting to get in, said Joe Eaton of the Buckeye Firearms Association.

“Sales were through the roof on Saturday,” said Eaton. “People were buying everything they could out of fear the president would try to ban certain guns and high-capacity magazines.”
The deluge of buyers had officials working overtime. Background checks that normally took 15 minutes in California took more than four hours, Durkheimer said. In Colorado, background checks that normally take minutes turned into wait times of more than 12 hours, said CBI spokeswoman Susan Medina.
“We had to call in extra staff,” Medina said. “The wait times were high.”

The CBI says it processed more than 4,200 background checks on Saturday, the day after the Newtown, Conn., shooting. That surpassed the previous high of 4,028. Nationwide, FBI data shows 16.4 million background checks were run in 2011. An agency spokesman said Monday it did not keep daily numbers and would not have figures for December until early January.

The New York firm said Tuesday that it was deeply saddened by the shooting, and that it will hire a financial adviser to help with the process of selling its interests in Freedom Group, a major firearms manufacturer which, in addition to Bushmaster, produces Remington Arms. A representative for Freedom Group could not be immediately reached for comment. The announcement comes one day after the California State Teachers Retirement System, a large pension fund, told The Wall Street Journal that it was reviewing its $500 million investment commitment to Cerberus because of the firm’s stake in Freedom Group.

A representative for the California State Teachers Retirement System could not be immediately reached for comment on Tuesday. Cerberus affiliates made an investment in Freedom Group in 2006. The firm said that Freedom Group does not sell weapons or ammunition directly to consumers, and that it does not believe that “Freedom Group or any single company or individual can prevent senseless violence or the illegal use or procurement of firearms and ammunition.”

Cerberus Capital Management makes investments on behalf of clients that include the pension plans of firemen, teachers, policemen, and other municipal workers and unions, endowments and other institutions and individuals. Money made from the Freedom Group sale will be returned to its investors, Cerberus said.
